In October, Women's rights historian Mary Chapin was inducted into The Oneida County Historical Society as a recipient of the Richard W. Couper Living Legends for 2014. In her acceptance speech, Ms. Chapin encouraged women to be more proactive in the electoral process by voting, actively campaigning, and running for public office.

Mohawk Valley Community College hosted the Naturalization Ceremony on November 7, 2014.

A Meet-the-Candidates Forum for Oneida County Family Court Judge was held at the Jewish Community Center on 10/8/2014. The candidates were Julia Brouillette, Dawn C. Lupi and Karen Stanislaus.

On Oct.2, the James Sherman Political Science Society at Utica College hosted a Powerpoint presentation by the LWVUR on Redistricting. Students, teachers and League members attended.

On 9/17/14, the Business Expo brought pride to the Mohawk Valley. LWVUR shared a booth with the NAACP, MV Latino Association and the ACLU.

A special naturalization ceremony was held at Fort Stanwix on 9/18/14. This week marks the 227th anniversary of the ratification of the constitution. The 42 new citizens come from 16 different nations.

LWVUR took a bus trip with members of the general public to Seneca Falls, NY. The Women's Rights National Historic Park and the Women's Hall of Fame were visited. Lunch was at the Gould Hotel and a trip ending stop was made at the Montezuma Winery which left an especially good taste in the mouths of all the participants...not only for the wine, but the League and the trip as well.
